Why You Need Your Bank Statement PDF
Your bank statement is the most complete record of your financial activity. Unlike UPI apps that only show transactions made through them, your bank statement captures every debit and credit — whether it came from Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, a direct NEFT, or an ATM withdrawal. If you want to understand your real spending habits, the bank statement PDF is the place to start.
UPI Audit uses your bank statement PDF to give you a full breakdown of where your money went — by category, merchant, and month — without any login or account linking required.
How to Download from HDFC Bank
HDFC is one of the easiest banks to get a statement PDF from. Here are three ways:
- NetBanking: Log in at netbanking.hdfcbank.com → Accounts → Statement of Account → Choose date range → Download PDF. Statements are available for up to 10 years.
- HDFC Mobile App: Open the app → Menu → Accounts → Statements → Select date range → Download. The PDF is saved to your phone's Downloads folder.
- Email: Many HDFC customers receive monthly e-statements automatically. Search your inbox for "HDFC Bank" — the PDF is password-protected with your date of birth (DDMMYYYY format).
HDFC statements include a complete transaction list with date, description, debit/credit amounts, and closing balance. UPI transactions appear with the merchant VPA in the description column.
How to Download from SBI (State Bank of India)
SBI serves hundreds of millions of customers and has both a web portal and mobile app for statement downloads.

- SBI NetBanking: Visit onlinesbi.sbi → Account Statement → Select account and date range → Download in PDF or Excel format.
- Branch/ATM: SBI ATMs can print mini-statements (last 5 transactions). For full statements, visit a branch or use the Passbook app.

Tips for Getting the Best Statement for Analysis
For the most useful analysis, keep these tips in mind when downloading your statement:
- Download at least 3 months — a single month may not reflect your typical spending pattern. Three months gives you a good baseline and helps identify seasonal variations.
- Use the PDF format, not Excel — UPI Audit's parser is optimized for bank-issued PDF statements, which have a consistent format for each bank.
- Avoid printing and scanning — a scanned image PDF cannot be parsed by text extraction tools. Always download the original digital PDF from your bank's app or website.
- Check the date range — make sure your statement covers the full period you want to analyze. Some banks default to the last month only; manually adjust the date range.
Downloading From Other Banks
The major banks above cover most users, but the steps are similar everywhere — look for "Statement", "e-Statement", or "Account Statement" inside the app or net banking:
- Punjab National Bank (PNB): PNB ONE app → Accounts → Statement, or retail net banking.
- Yes Bank: YES MOBILE / iris by Yes Bank → Accounts → Download Statement.
- IDFC FIRST Bank: IDFC FIRST mobile app → Account → Download Statement.
- Bank of Baroda, Canara, IndusInd: all offer PDF statement downloads through their mobile apps and net banking portals.
How Far Back Should You Go?
For a one-off spending check, 3 months is the sweet spot — enough to smooth out an unusual month without an overwhelming number of transactions. If you want to see seasonal patterns (Diwali shopping, summer travel, IPL-season subscriptions), download 6–12 months. Most banks let you pull at least a year of history, and several keep up to 5–10 years.
What Happens After You Upload to UPI Audit?
Once you have your bank statement PDF, head to upiaudit.com and upload it. The app will automatically detect your bank, extract all UPI and IMPS transactions, categorize them into 9 spending categories (Food Delivery, Groceries, Shopping, Local Shops & Retail, Transport, Subscriptions, Recharges, Transfers, and Others), and show you a breakdown by merchant and category — all in under 10 seconds.
Your PDF is never stored on any server. It is processed entirely in memory and discarded after your results are generated. No login, no account linking, no data retention.
